The Angel Haven

Last night I hosted the Haven’s first gathering, a full moon and spring equinox celebration with my closest girlfriends. We moved through the spaces in my home, learning about the holiday, drinking cacao, taking time to reflect and write our intentions, then sharing them with each other as we manifest the reality we want to live into.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In order to be healthy and balanced, humans need:

-Connections in which vulnerability leads to intimacy
-To gather together in person, regulate each others nervous systems, and share healthy, nonsexual touch
-A scared space, separate from the profane, every day world that invites us to mentally step out of our daily lives and connect to ourselves, each other, and something outside of ourselves, a spiritual pause between breaths amongst our rushing to the next event
-A community that fosters higher level thinking, growth, self compassion, and supports each other in seeking to be ‘in service’ to others and society in general
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our intrinsic needs have been pushed aside in our modern lives. The way we spend time together and shape our relationships has changed with society. We have moved away from coming together around spirituality, as was the norm when communities would be centered around religious institutions and practices. We have moved away from gathering to connecting electronically, from living with or near family to living on our own anonymous to our neighbors. We have undermined the natural needs of our species to the point of toxicity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These destructive realities of our society are expressed as depression, strained relationships, isolation, and unhealthy attempts to meet our basic needs. My call to action was that dog owners who attempt to get their needs met by their pet create a mentally unstable animal. Helping each human learn to see their dog as a unique species who doesn’t necessarily receive love in the way their human desires to express it is important, but addresses a symptom. I wanted to go to the source - what needs aren’t being met and how can I create a pause in life to meet them in a healthy way?
